Overview
It is important for all Edify users to prepare Google Chrome for managing phone calls as both Edify EX and Edify CX users have softphone access for communicating with others.
Edify EX licensed users have access to the unified communications tools, including the softphone workspace. Edify CX users have access to both the unified communications tools as well as the contact center tools, both of which employ the use of the softphone.
No matter your license type, log into your Edify account to prepare your Google Chrome workspace for managing voice calls. These preparation steps include enabling important features in your Google Chrome web browser, like allowing access to your microphone and speakers.
Once you complete this process, you don’t need to configure these settings again.
Enable microphone in Google Chrome
1. Log into Edify App in Google Chrome.
2. Click the padlock icon to the left of the URL.
3. Click Site Settings.
4. Open the Microphone menu.
5. Select Allow.
6. Click the padlock icon to close the menu.
7. Close the Site Settings tab and navigate back to your Edify App tab.
8. Click Reload and notice Chrome automatically refreshes the page to apply the updated settings.
Enable sound in Google Chrome
1. Log into Edify App in Google Chrome.
2. Click the padlock icon to the left of the URL.
3. Click Site Settings.
4. Open the Sound menu.
5. Select Allow.
6. Click the padlock icon to close the menu.
7. Notice Edify is now able to play sounds through your speakers.
Test audio for your softphone
1. Log into Edify App in Google Chrome.
2. Open the softphone workspace.
3. Click into the dial out field.
4. Enter '91'
5. Click the create call button.
6. Listen for the call to connect.
7. Listen to Hammond's instructions.
8. Respond to Hammond's questions accordingly.
9. After answering the questions, listen for Hammond to replay your responses.
10. Check your microphone and sound settings if you do not hear your responses play back.
Test audio for your desk phone
Log into Edify App in Google Chrome.
Pick up your headset or desk phone handset.
Dial ‘91’ on your deskphone.
Listen for the call to connect.
Listen to Hammond’s instructions.
Respond to Hammond’s questions accordingly.
After answering the questions, listen for Hammond to replay your responses.
Check your microphone and sound settings if you do not hear your responses play back.
