Create an outbound call from softphone (App)
This article explains how to create an outbound call from the softphone in App.
In this article
Overview
In App, the create call workspace within the softphone is available to all users. The softphone is where you can:
Create outbound calls
Receive inbound webRTC calls
Access the company directory
View call history, voicemail, and fax (if fax permissions are enabled)
Use the labeled graphic in the section below to learn more about the softphone workspace.
Note: For users that prefer to only use their deskphone for managing calls, turn off the softphone feature on your account.
Visual breakdown
Create call tab (A): The create call tab opens the outbound calling workspace. When opening the softphone, this is the default workspace.
Address Book (B): The Address Book button opens the company directory. The Address Book includes an entry for each coworker, queue, and ring group that has an assigned extension. Each entry provides useful information like user status, extension number, contact methods, and more. Once you have opened the Address Book, search for a specific coworker or queue by typing the person’s or queue’s name, title, status, or extension. Reference the directory quick guide to learn more.
Dialing field (C): The dialing field lets you dial a phone number by pressing the number keys on your keyboard.
Create call button (D): The create call button initiates the outbound call once you’ve dialed the phone number either by using the keypad or by manually entering the number by typing into the dialing field.
Keypad button (E): The keypad button opens the alphanumeric keypad so you can dial a phone number by clicking numbers on the keypad. This offers an alternative to typing the number with your keyboard into the dialing field.
