This article provides information about understanding and deciphering IDs and it includes a list of product codes.
Edify IDs aren’t just a mix of random characters. While one part of the ID is a random mix of characters, that’s only one part of the ID. Instead, all Edify IDs are formatted the same, making it easy to actually decipher a little bit of information about the creation of the ID and the data tied to it.Â
Each Edify ID has four core components. When you break an ID down into these parts, you can quickly learn three important pieces of information about the ID, like the product it’s associated with, where it was generated, and when it was created.
Here’s the component breakdown of the four parts of Edify IDs when reading the ID from left to right:
productCode - The first three characters of the ID is the product code, which tells you which product it’s associated with.
regionCode - After the product code is the region code. This component tells you where the ID was generated, specifically in which region.
date - Then, after the region code is the four-digit date component, which tells you when the ID was created. For example, if the date in the ID is 0512 then the ID was created on May 12th.
uuid - Lastly, the remaining 16 characters making up the ID is the uuid, which is a random set of characters.
Let’s review these components by looking at an Edify ID.Â
004s01080239bc0ffeb328d38c
004 - This is the product code component of the ID, which tells you that this ID is specifically an ID for an interaction.
s01 - This is the region code for this ID, which tells you where the ID was generated.
0802 - This is the four-digit creation date for the ID, which tells you when the ID was created. So, this interaction was created on August 2nd.
39bc0ffeb328d38c - This is the uuID for the ID, which are always the remaining 16 characters of the ID and they’re just a random set of characters.
The first three characters of an Edify ID is always the product code. That code aligns to an Edify product. Below is the full list of products and their corresponding code, so reference this chart when you’re trying to decipher the product code in an Edify ID.Â
