Overview: Exporting reports (Edify App)

Edify App > Analytics > Overview: Exporting reports (Edify App)

This article provides an overview of the report exporting features in Edify App.

Overview

In the Analytics workspace of Edify App, you can export any report with the Export Report modal. To access the Export Report modal, click the tri-dot icon in the top-right corner of a report and select Export.

Click the tri-dot icon while viewing a report to export it.

Exporting a report transfers the data contained within the report to another destination (like your computer or a remote server). Once a report has been exported, the data can be imported into another tool like Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or another piece of software that accepts CSV and/or JSON imports.

Once you’ve selected what kind of file you want to export (CSV or JSON), you can select how you want the file to be exported. The options include:

The Export Report modal lets you export a report as CSV or JSON via a download, expirable URL, or SFTP connection.

Continue reading the sections below to learn more about each of these methods.

Exporting as a download

Exporting a report as a download allows you to download a report to your computer as an CSV or JSON file. This is the default way to export a report.

After clicking Export, the CSV file downloads to your computer.

Exporting as a URL

Exporting a report as a URL allows you to share the report at a publicly accessible URL. Anyone who navigates to the URL will automatically download the file to their computer. This is useful when you want to share a report with someone periodically, like a manager or an administrator, to give them a view of analytics of your business’ performance. The link can also be bookmarked, giving the manager or administrator the ability to refer to the report at any time.

Configuration options for exporting a file as a URL

When you export a report as a URL, you can configure the URL to expire after a specified time or to never expire. The URL Never Expires toggle sets whether the generated URL expires (becomes invalid for others to access the report with).

When URL Never Expires is toggled off, you can see an Amount and Unit combination to configure when the link will expire.

The Unit field defines what kind of time measurement to use. The options include:

The Amount field defines how many units must elapse before the link expires. For example, if the Amount is set to “7” and the Unit is set to “Days”, the link will expire after seven days.

After clicking Export, the link automatically generates for you to copy and share.

Exporting via SFTP

Exporting a report via SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) allows you to share the report file to a remote server. This is useful when you want to automatically deliver a file to a destination server where someone can check for a file to download.

Getting ready to export via SFTP

Before you can export via SFTP, you need to configure your SFTP settings for the report. To do this, perform the following steps:

1. Click the tri-dot icon in the top-right corner of the screen and click Edit.

2. In the Editor workspace of the report, click the smaller tri-dot icon in the top-right corner of the report and click Settings.

3. A panel will appear where you can input your SFTP settings. Fill out these settings and click Save. Contact the person in your organization responsible for administering the SFTP server to get this information.

4. Save the report.

Export via SFTP

Once you’ve configured your SFTP settings (see the section above for instructions on how to do this), you can export your report to your SFTP server.

Click Export to export the report file to your SFTP server.
