Change notification settings for channels and direct messages in Chat

This article explains how to change notification settings for channels and direct messages in Chat.

Steps

1. Hover over the channel or direct message you want to update notification settings for.

2. Do one of the following:

a. Click the tri-dot > Notifications, then select All or Mentions.

b. Click the Channel Settings button, then select your preferred notification setting from the Notifications dropdown menu.

• All - Get notifications and unread counts when anyone posts in a chat or direct message.

• Mentions - Only get notifications and unread counts when you or the entire channel is mentioned.

Note: These settings also apply to mobile, but can only be changed on the desktop app.
