This article provides an overview of IP Endpoint Templates in Console.
Overview
In Console, an IP Endpoint Template allows you to quickly add information for desk phones, using a template instead of manually entering the information. Any change made to the template will automatically update every IP endpoint that uses the template. This makes adding and updating multiple desk phones with the same settings quick and easy.
Access the IP endpoints template in Console by navigating to Account > IP Endpoints > IP Endpoint Templates.
The IP endpoints workspace is where you can search for an IP endpoint template, create an IP endpoint template, edit an existing IP endpoint template or create folders for IP endpoint templates.
Endpoint Settings container
The Endpoint Settings container allows you to enter specific information about the set of phones you are provisioning.

Visual breakdown
Template Name (A): The Template Name field allows you to edit the name of the template.
Object Folder (B): The Object Folder field specifies what folder to store an endpoint created within or assigned to a template. In this example, all IP endpoints using the “West pod” IP endpoint template are stored in the “Example Template Folder” under IP Endpoints.
Type (C): The Type menu is where you select the manufacturer of the device. This list includes ‘Polycom’, ‘Yealink’, ‘Cisco’, and ‘Other’.
Other: These devices fall outside of the three specific manufacturers listed within the Type menu. For these devices, it is recommended that your business be equipped to manage and configure them. Avaya supports the basic phone features and functionality for these devices, such as standard inbound and outbound calling as well as transferring calls. However, Avaya doesn't support remote assistance for the configuration of these devices other than providing the necessary phone connection credentials.
Model (D): Depending on the selection made within the Type menu, the Model menu displays either a drop-down menu or a text field.
Drop down menu: This menu is where you select the model of the devices that you’re adding to the account. The populated modules are based on the manufacturer you selected from the Type menu, which are either - ‘Polycom’, ‘Yealink’, or ‘Cisco’.
Text field: This text field populates when you have selected ‘Other’ from the Type menu. This is where you specify the model of the devices based on the manufacturer, alternate softphone service, or any endpoints that you want to manually configure.
Note: All IP endpoints in a template must be the same Type and Model.
Phone Label (E): The phone label allows you to store additional information about the endpoint. This could include more details about the endpoint’s location or use.
Location (F): The Location field is where you assign a location to the endpoint.
Time Zone (G): The Time Zone menu is where you link the IP Endpoint to the assigned user’s time zone. This is the time zone that’s displayed on the device.
Encrypted Calling (H): The Encrypted Calling feature can only be enabled with Polycom and Yealink phones as these are the desk phone manufactures that Avaya fully supports. The menu options here are either ‘Enabled’ or ‘Disabled’. When disabled, this means calls to/from these devices are far less protected and secure, making the data from these calls at risk. Because of this, it is recommended to always enable encryption when available.
Allow Hot Desking (I): The Allow Hot Desking field allows you to decide if multiple people can sign into the devices throughout the day, or if only one user is permitted to log into the devices. See Enable or disable hot desking.
Save (J): Save allows you to lock in the changes made to the fields in the Endpoint Settings container.
Device Network Settings
Configure Device Network Settings to link the endpoint to the softphone. Contact your system administrator for your specific network setting details.
Line Keys
The Line Keys container allows configuration of Line Keys on a deskphone. See below for configuration details.
Under Type, choose whether you want your line key to be configured for a Busy Line Field (BLF) or Speed Dial.
Under Configuration Type, select User or Line Group.
Under Configuration, select the user or line group associated with the line key.
Under Label, choose a name for the line key.
Custom
Use the Custom container to customize the configuration of the endpoint. Refer to your device's documentation on how to configure this information.
